Say it with me: We’re achieving our goals in 2021!

As many of you are on the road to eliminating debt, increasing your savings, creating generational wealth and/or other goals, staying on track will lead you to the finish line. While you go through your journey, here are some helpful tips that I’ve given to my Unindebted the Course clients that can help you stay on track to #OwningYourCheck!

  1. Continue to do THE WORK. Achieving goals is the result of putting in hard work. It won’t happen overnight; putting in 2% every day will get you closer toward your goals. Think about it just as reaching a fitness goal: you won’t become tone if you don’t eat clean and strength train. That’s the work that will result in accomplishing your goals! If you want progress and to reach the goals you’ve set for 2021, you have to PUT IN THE WORK!

  2. Stay adaptable and give yourself GRACE. Sometimes, too much pressure can push you over the edge, especially when situations are out of your control. Similar to COVID, life’s unexpected moments can change your lifestyle and norm, leading you to find a way to readjust. SO STAY READY! Lean on your MVP and CAR Fund when needed. Adapt to your new norm and readjust your short-term goals if needed to achieve your long-term goals!

Also, give yourself GRACE! We are human and it’s easy to slip on your goals. No one’s perfect and not everyone has an easy time achieving their goals, or else everyone would be billionaires! lol. If you slip up or make a mistake, start new the next day, forgive yourself, and refocus toward your goals!

  3. Commit to your Goal Review Sessions. If you have set a long-term goal, you should also be reviewing your progress to make sure you are aligned and on track to achieving them. In Unindebted the Course, each of my client’s received worksheets like evaluating their Current Financial State and creating a Priority Matrix for how they want to spend their money AND time. Each of their worksheets are reviewed during their Goal Review Sessions to ensure they are on track or need to readjust to reach their goals!

  4. Leverage your community. I can’t express how much leveraging your community is important to you when achieving your goals. My community came THROUGH when I needed help or tips. For example, even with running Own Your Check, The Iowa Center has provided SO MANY resources for myself and others in my city to effectively run my business! Resources at NO COST! Those resources included CPA advice, business materials and other resources, ALL of which I would have had to pay for had I not used them. There are free resources everywhere: look at Instagram, look into Facebook groups, check out Pinterest, your local non-profits, or even your friends and family! I could go on and on listing how you can leverage your community. Leverage every resource available to reach your goals!
