The Birth of Own Your Check…

Pregnant and about to give birth, I was STRESSED with the amount of debt that I had. I thought of all the expenses that come with a child. Diapers, daycare, FOOD! The combination of high balances and high minimum payments on my credit cards made me realize that I did not, OWN MY CHECK! The creditors, the service providers, the merchants, OWNED MY CHECK! I was working every day, to pay THEM!

This realization BLEW MY MIND! I wanted to be able to provide for my daughter, I wanted to be able to pass her the tools and knowledge about finances that I never received.

So I thought, “What can I do?! How can I eliminate my unmanageable debt so that my daughter can inherit assets from me, not liabilities? How can I eliminate my unmanageable debt so that I could live the quality of life that I deserve, that I desire? So I educated myself. I read, I took courses and ultimately it was a lot of trial and error. I thought beyond, not going out to eat and not going on vacation and I FIGURED IT OUT! I figured out strategies to ELIMINATE large amounts of debt!
